Your Accommodation
Hotel Karystion (3-star), 7 nights half board.
This family run hotel is ideally situated overlooking the sea. The ground floor reception and lobby open onto a lower breakfast/dining room, lounge and bar. All guest rooms are comfortably furnished and all have private facilities, TV, air conditioning, hairdrier and balcony with side sea view. The hotel is the base for all our walks. All meals will be taken in local taverns.
Your Itinerary
DAY 1 UK/Athens
We fly to Athens. On arrival we transfer by coach and ferry to our hotel in Karystos on the island of Evia, where we stay for the next seven nights.
DAYS 2 – 7 Karystos
Evia, the second largest Greek island, is located incredibly close to the mainland, in fact the two shorelines almost resemble mirror images of each other. The island’s beautiful beaches alternate with a rugged coastline to create a wonderful walking environment.
We include the following excursions, walks and activities during our time on Evia:
Karystos (three-quarter-day)
Enjoy an introductory walk around the resort of Karystos, where we see traditional Greek pastelli (honey and sesame bars) being made.
Aetos Village Walk
This three-quarter-day excursion takes us to the charming village of Aetos via the Pannagia Chapel. From Aetos we follow the winding hillside paths back down to the seafront.
Easy walking – 3 hours.
Grabia Village Walk
This is a leisurely full-day walking tour that starts in Grabia and takes us to St Kathryn Chapel, the Castello Rosso (Red Castle), which overlooks Karystos Town, and the remains of an ancient Roman aqueduct. Our walk ends in Mili.
Moderate walking – 4 hours.
Roman Ruins & Wine Tasting
Our full-day tour takes you to the impressive Roman quarry at Kilindri, where the remains of stone columns hewn from the rock can be seen. It’s then on to the old town of Paleohora and the Montofoli Vineyard, where there will be the opportunity to sample some locally produced wines.
Moderate walking – 4 hours.
Shepherd’s Walk
A full day out following ancient shepherds’ paths through the unspoilt countryside around Karystos, past pretty villages, ancient churches and impressive monuments. We also enjoy an included lunch in Lala Village.

The following excursion is optional:
Marmara
There will be stunning views of the sea as we walk along paths to the coast and down towards the harbour of Marmara.
Easy walking – 3 hours.
DAY 8 Athens/UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Regional connecting flights to London from only £69
If you can’t fly direct to your destination from your local airport (see individual holiday details), usually you will have the choice of taking a regional connecting flight to Heathrow or Gatwick from as little as £69 per person return. If your connecting flight and your flight from Gatwick or Heathrow is with British Airways or British Midland, your luggage will automatically be checked through to your final destination, so there’s no need to collect or check your luggage in twice.

Make your own way and save up to £150 per person
