By rail: Rurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels. On arrival, transfer to the ship by coach.

DAY 2 Rudesheim

Get to know the history steeped Rhine gorge. Abundant vineyards, pretty villages and imposing castles make this one of Reurope’s most stunning riverscapes. The scenery that you see as you pass the Lorelei rock will take your breath away. Later, arrive at the pretty wine town of Rudesheim where you can sample some of the delicious Rhine wines in a local tavern. There is an optional trip to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum.

DAY 3 Cochem

We arrive in Cochem after breakfast, where there is the chance to visit the mighty Reichsburg Castle that towers above this picturesque town and affords magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. This is one of the most famous castles on the Moselle. Leaving Cochem behind, we cruise on to Bernkastel, arriving after dinner.

DAY 4 Bernkastel

This is one of the most beautiful wine towns in the region. At the heart of the town is the pretty market square, filled with quaint half timbered colourwashed houses with steeped gabled roofs. You will have plenty of free time to explore this exquisite old town. Alternatively, join our optional excursion to the ancient Roman town of Trier. Once the region's Roman capital and founded around 15bC, there are many fascinating monuments remaining here, including the Amphitheatre, baths and the famous fortified gates of Porta Nigra. Trier’s cathedral also dates from roman times and houses a garment believed to have belonged to Jesus Christ.

DAY 5 Issel & Luxembourg City

We spend the day in the charming historic town of issel, from where you can join a very special optional tour to Luxembourg, a picturesque city that stands high on a plateau. Landmarks include the grand Ducal Palace, home of the country’s Monarch, and the gothic Cathedral of Notre Dame. Once occupied by the Romans, some parts of the old city walls still remain.

DAY 6 Koblenz

This morning we sail towards Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers converge, arriving in this fascinating city at lunchtime. Koblenz was once a strategic stronghold for the Roman military. Towering above the city is the Ehrenbreitstein Castle, originally built between ad 900 and 1100, and since reconstructed. Whilst here, join our optional walking tour of the old town.

DAY 7 Cologne

Spend the morning in the delightful and strategically positioned city of Cologne. Its prosperity is evident in the fine buildings and magnificent cathedral, whose soaring spires were once the tallest structures in the world. An optional city walking tour is available. After lunch we set sail for the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.
