Your Itinerary
DAY 1 UK/Nice
We fly to Nice and on arrival meet our Tour Manager for the transfer to Menton, our base for the next seven nights. Known as the ‘Pearl of the Riviera’, Menton is magnificently situated between the mountains and the sea. Lemon trees flourish in its warm climate and the old town is a delight to explore, with baroque architecture and pastel-coloured villas. It is perhaps best known as the preferred retreat of the artist, writer and filmmaker Jean Cocteau, who worked in the town’s 17th-century fort.
DAY 2 Villa Rothschild
Today’s optional excursion takes us to the Villa Rothschild at St-Jean-Cap Ferrat. Inspired by the great Renaissance palaces of Italy, the villa is surrounded by exquisite gardens and was specially built to house the remarkable art collections of the Baroness de Rothschild, including 18th-century paintings, Renaissance furniture, Flemish tapestries and beautiful china.
DAY 3 Monaco & Monte Carlo
The stylish Principality of Monaco is a tiny sovereign state that has been ruled by the Grimaldi family for over seven centuries. Our included excursion takes us to Monte Carlo, the playground of the very rich and famous, renowned for its grandiose casino and exotic gardens. Opulent shops, exclusive restaurants and elegant hotels are all to be found here, as well as millionaires’ yachts anchored in the harbour – it’s the perfect place for people-watching.
DAY 4 The Provencal Villages
This optional excursion takes us inland to the atmospheric mediaeval town of St Paul de Vence, where you will discover why the town is so loved by artists. Set behind almost intact ramparts that were once one of the favourite subjects of Matisse, the town sums up Provencal life at its best. We also see the village of Eze, which appears to cling in dramatic fashion to the cliffs around it. Be sure to browse in the boutiques, cafes and artists’ studios that abound here.
DAY 5 San Remo & Hanbury Gardens
Join us on our optional excursion as we venture over the Italian border to the charming market at San Remo, the capital of the Italian Riviera. This international resort is located on a wide, sheltered bay and the delightful old town, La Pigna, is characterised by perched houses and small squares. Our tour also includes a visit to the beautiful Hanbury Gardens, created by Londoner Sir Thomas Hanbury in the 19th century. This botanical paradise features plants from tropical and subtropical regions all over the world.
DAY 6 Cannes & Antibes
Located on the shores of La Napoule Bay, Cannes developed from a small fishing village into a fashionable resort for poets, writers and the English aristocracy during the 19th century. Today it is renowned the world over for its film festival. Take the time to stroll along La Croisette, the palmtree- lined boulevard that runs along the seafront, top hotels on one side and private beaches on the other. Our included excursion also visits Antibes, perhaps the most exclusive resort on the Cote d’Azur and a favourite with the extremely wealthy.
DAY 7 Les Gorges de Loup & Gourdon
Our optional excursion takes us into the steep, fantastical cliffs of Les Gorges de Loup, a scenic valley of river gorges cooled by dramatic waterfalls and dotted with ancient towns. We visit Gourdon, built around a 2,500- foot-high rocky outcrop – a lovely place to stop awhile and browse in the charming shops.
DAY 8 Nice/UK
Today we transfer to the airport for our homeward flight.

Regional connecting flights to London from only £69
If you can’t fly direct to your destination from your local airport (see individual holiday details), usually you will have the choice of taking a regional connecting flight to Heathrow or Gatwick from as little as £69 per person return. If your connecting flight and your flight from Gatwick or Heathrow is with British Airways or British Midland, your luggage will automatically be checked through to your final destination, so there’s no need to collect or check your luggage in twice.

Make your own way and save up to £150 per person
You may want more flexibility to make your own travel arrangements to combine your trip with visits to friends and relatives or travel from an airport which we do not offer. Getting you there - Worldwide Holidays
To get your holiday off to a great start, we offer a range of transfer options with our compliments.

1. Experience door-to-door travel with Page & Moy (2009 departures only)
If you live within a 250-mile drive of your departure airport, we will arrange for a taxi to pick you up from your door and take you to the airport, and drop you home on your return, with our compliments.
2. FREE Connecting flights
If you live further than 250 miles from the airport, or if you prefer, you can opt to transfer to the main departure airport by a connecting flight from an airport closer to home (subject to availability).
3. FREE National Express coach travel
Alternatively, why not choose coach travel on the extensive national express network, with over 1,200 collection points nationwide. What’s more, we’ll pay for your ticket!
4. FREE airport car parking (2009 departures only)
If you would prefer the flexibility of travelling independently to the airport, we are pleased to offer
