Your Itinerary
DAY 1 UK/Bregenzerwald
We fly to Zurich and take the scenic transfer to the village of Au in the Bregenzerwald, which will be our base for the next seven nights.
DAY 2 St Anton
Set in the heart of the Lechtaler Alps, we enjoy an included visit to St Anton this morning. It is probably best known as a ski resort, but it is also famed for its panoramic views from the Arlberg Mountains. This afternoon we enjoy a walk from the hotel to the nature reserve of Auer Ried and the Argen Gorge. Many rare species of plants grow in this area and we are sure to see some of them on our walk.
DAY 3 Lindau & Lake Constance
Today we offer an optional excursion to the pretty Bavarian town of Lindau. Set on Lake Constance with a backdrop of dramatic alpine scenery, Lindau is one of the best-preserved mediaeval towns in Germany. It has picturesque merchants’ houses and tempting cafes lining the lakeside promenade – the perfect spot to take in the breathtaking views over the lake’s tranquil waters.
DAY 4 The Bregenzerwald
Spend the day at leisure, exploring this delightful area further. Make use of your included Bregenzerwald card today, which allows free access to public transport, cable cars and public swimming pools.
DAY 5 Silvretta Alpine Road
Don’t miss today’s included excursion, which shows us more of the region as we drive along the Silvretta Alpine Road. A monumental feat of construction, this road climbs through 30 hairpin bends and reaches an altitude of 6,680 feet at the base of Piz Buin, the highest peak in the region.
DAY 6 Three Countries
Our optional excursion today takes us to the tiny principality of Liechtenstein. Highlights include a trip to the capital Vaduz and its mediaeval castle that is still home to the prince, who rules one of the world’s smallest independent nations. Later we enjoy a scenic tour of the Swiss region of Appenzell for some stunning views before returning to our resort in Austria.
DAY 7 The Bregenzerwald
Today’s included scenic excursion takes us to a local family-run cheese dairy for a tour and tasting. Nestling between Lake Constance and the Arlberg Mountains, the Bregenzerwald has picture postcard scenery at its best. We also enjoy a cable car ride high into the mountains.
DAY 8 Zurich/UK
We transfer to Zurich airport for our return flight to the UK.
