Your Itinerary

DAY 1 UK/Vancouver

We fly to Vancouver and transfer to our hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 2 Vancouver

Join our included sightseeing tour of Vancouver this morning, where you will see the Victorian streets of Gas Town, exotic Chinatown, Robson Street, the main shopping district with its array of boutiques and cafes, and the beautiful gardens of Stanley Park, famed for its numerous totem poles. The afternoon is free or why not join our optional excursion to Vancouver’s North Shore to visit Grouse Mountain and take a walk over the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

DAY 3 Rocky Mountaineer train (First Passage to the West) – Vancouver to Kamloops

This morning, board the Rocky Mountaineer train for the start of your spectacular twoday, all daylight journey across the Continental Divide and along the Kicking Horse Pass to Banff. Travelling in RedLeaf class, you will enjoy superb service and spectacular views from the comfort of your reclining seat. You will pass through the meadows of the Fraser River Valley and cross over the Coastal Mountains before heading east along Fraser Canyon, where you can peer down into the raging maelstrom of Hell’s Gate. Continue along the Thompson River to the town of Kamloops, where you will stay overnight.

DAY 4 Rocky Mountaineer train (First Passage to the West) – Kamloops to Banff

We rejoin the Rocky Mountaineer this morning for the second part of our incredible journey to Banff. Prepare yourself for some of the world’s most spectacular mountain scenery as you journey alongside the South Thompson River, passing Craigellachie, on to Rogers Pass. The train then follows the Kicking Horse River and ascends the Kicking Horse Pass before navigating the incredible twisting Spiral Tunnels of Cathedral Mountain. Arrive in Banff and transfer to your hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 5 Banff

Canada’s oldest National Park is a natural wonderland of jagged snow-capped mountains, dense forests, rushing rivers and hot mineral springs. Enjoy a short orientation tour of the town of Banff, which lies at the heart of Banff National Park and then continue to Lake Louise.

DAY 6 Icefields Parkway

An unforgettable day is in store as we leave Banff and travel along one of the most visually dramatic highways in the world, Icefields Parkway, passing through some of the country’s highest mountain peaks. We’ll have the opportunity of an included snocoach ride over the vast glaciers of the Columbia Icefields. If we’re lucky we might even catch sight of a moose or grizzly bear. We arrive in Jasper later on today, a friendly town at the foot of Whistler Mountain, and our base for the next two nights.

DAY 7 Jasper National Park

The day is free to explore the delights of Jasper, a former railroad town and now the focal point of its own breathtakingly beautiful national park. Why not take in the jewel-like Pyramid and Patricia Lakes and the deep limestone gorge of Maligne Canyon on this morning’s optional tour, then spend the afternoon exploring at your leisure. Perhaps take a ride on the Jasper Sky Tram to the summit of Whistler Mountain; or an exhilarating raft trip along the Athabasca River.

DAY 8 Rocky Mountaineer train (Rainforest to Gold Rush) – Jasper to Quesnel

We embark on another magnificent two-day, all daylight journey aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train today as we travel along the Rainforest to Gold Rush route from Jasper to Whistler. We pass Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rockies, and travel through the spectacular Rocky Mountain Trench. Discover the gold mining heritage of the region in Quesnel, where we stay overnight.

DAY 9 Rocky Mountaineer train (Rainforest to Gold Rush) – Quesnel to Whistler

Reboard the train this morning for another thrilling day taking us to the heart of the Gold Rush towns. We follow the length of the mighty Fraser River, through the Fraser Canyon and the vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau and along the Anderson and Seton lakeshores. We arrive later in Whistler, one of Canada’s most beautiful mountain resorts and home to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, where we will stay overnight.

DAY 10 Rocky Mountaineer train (Whistler Sea to Sky Climb) – Whistler to Vancouver

Today we board the Rocky Mountaineer train for a spectacular three-hour journey in Coast Classic class from Rocky to Vancouver. Take in the views as we journey along the Sea to Sky Highway through spectacular forested landscapes, past the magnificent Coast Mountains and skirting along the shores of Howe Sound. The Rocky Mountaineer pulls in to Vancouver’s North Station, from where we take the relatively short coach transfer across the Lions Gate Bridge into central Vancouver for an overnight stay.
